Three terrorists were killed during an exchange of fire with police in Bannu. The operation was launched based on intelligence reports about their presence.
The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and local police carried out the intelligence-based operation in the jurisdiction of Miryan Police Station, where they encountered the terrorists. Upon raiding the location, the terrorists opened fire instead of surrendering, prompting the police to return fire.
As a result, three terrorists were killed on the spot. They were identified as Mudassir alias Mudsari from Mumbatti Barakzai, Turab alias Umar Khitab alias Malang son of Raqiyaz from Khadri Mamand Khel, and Muhammad Hussain alias Muaz son of Shad Ayaz from Mamash Khel, Bannu.
The police also seized heavy weapons from the terrorists’ possession. The slain individuals were involved in the targeted killings of police officials including Constables Farman Ali, Nusrat, Kamran, Fayazuddin, Sikandar, and ASI Asghar Khan. They were also responsible for attacks on Basyakhel Police Station, City Cantt Police Station, Mirakhel, and various police checkpoints.
It is worth noting that the deceased terrorists were wanted by CTD in several other cases besides the targeted killings and had a long record of involvement in terrorism-related activities.
