Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Salman Akram Raja has stated that he will discuss the low turnout in yesterday’s protest with party leadership and founder Imran Khan.
Speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail, he said that the trial in the Toshakhana-II case is entirely unconstitutional and illegal. He further noted that, in the cipher case, lawyers, media, and family members were barred from entering the courtroom, despite clear directives from the High Court that such trials must allow open access.
Raja acknowledged that fewer people showed up for the protest and confirmed he would raise the issue within the party and consult with Imran Khan. He said that while the day was largely successful, the protest could have been more impactful, and future efforts would be improved accordingly.
He also mentioned that he, along with Mahmood Achakzai, remained at Chakri Interchange until 11 PM alongside Imran Khan’s sisters. He emphasized that if the party leader gives a call for protest, no MNA should be absent without a valid reason, and if someone is, they will be held accountable.
Meanwhile, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar and KP Information Adviser Barrister Saif declared the protest a success. According to Gohar, strong demonstrations took place in 170 districts, covering all tehsils and union councils, where the public showed their support for the PTI founder.
