Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has welcomed the recent decision by the United States government to include the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) and its separatist wing, the Majeed Brigade, in its list of Foreign Terrorist Organizations. Pakistan described this step as a significant development in promoting global cooperation against terrorism.
According to official sources, Pakistan had already designated the Majeed Brigade as a terrorist organization before July 1, 2024. Both the BLA and its militant wing, the Majeed Brigade, have been involved in several deadly terrorist attacks in Pakistan, including the Jaffar Express attack and the Khuzdar bus attack, which claimed the lives of many innocent civilians.
The Foreign Office spokesperson emphasized that Pakistan has always maintained a firm and resolute stance against terrorism. The country’s sacrifices have not only strengthened counterterrorism efforts domestically but have also contributed significantly to regional and global security.
The statement further noted that Pakistan remains committed to protecting its citizens and eradicating terrorism in all its forms. Pakistan will continue to work closely with the international community to effectively address this global challenge.
