The Government of Balochistan has declared September 6 as a public holiday across the province. The day will mark both Defence Day and Eid Milad-un-Nabi ﷺ, with government offices remaining closed and a series of commemorative and religious events planned.
According to the official notification, Defence Day will be observed to pay tribute to the martyrs and veterans who laid down their lives for the protection of Pakistan. In addition, on the occasion of 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal, Milad gatherings, processions, and other religious ceremonies will be held throughout the province with active participation from the public.
Earlier, the Sindh government had also announced public holidays on September 5 and 6. As per the Sindh notification, all government and private offices, schools, and institutions will remain closed on these dates.
The back-to-back holiday announcements in Sindh and Balochistan are expected to provide greater convenience to citizens, allowing them to fully participate in both national and religious observances.
It should be noted that Defence Day is celebrated every year on September 6 to honor the sacrifices of Pakistan’s armed forces during the 1965 war, while Eid Milad-un-Nabi ﷺ is observed by Muslims worldwide with deep devotion and reverence for the birth of the Holy Prophet ﷺ.
