Karachi: Sindh government spokesperson Nadir Nabeel Gabol has dismissed rumors of a breach on Bhutto Highway, saying the road remains intact and there is no structural fault. He explained that the under-construction highway was deliberately cut in one section to allow rainwater to pass through and prevent further accumulation.
In his statement, Gabol emphasized that an international firm is building the Bhutto Highway and the government will not tolerate any negligence in the project. He added that a comprehensive drainage system is being developed for the route, which is not yet open for public use.
He further clarified that water had accumulated on Mirza Adam Khan Road but was cleared swiftly. Rising sea levels, he said, had caused water to flow back into the Lyari River, complicating the situation.
According to the spokesperson, 30 dewatering pumps have already been installed in key locations, with more on the way to ensure smooth drainage. He warned that up to 100 millimeters of additional rain has been forecast but assured that if no further downpour occurs, the M-9 section will be cleared by noon.
