Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has said that after the recent rains in Karachi, several “seasonal frogs” have emerged who are busy spreading false and baseless rumors to mislead the public.

Speaking to the media at Mazar-e-Quaid on the death anniversary of Pakistan’s founder Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the Chief Minister said Pakistan is the result of Quaid-e-Azam’s tireless struggle. He stressed that it is now time to adopt Jinnah’s guiding principles of faith, unity, and sacrifice to transform the country into a true Islamic welfare state.

Murad Ali Shah also paid tribute to former prime ministers Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto, saying that both leaders played an unforgettable role in Pakistan’s defense and nuclear program. He added that India’s aggression has always been met with a strong and united response from Pakistan’s armed forces and its people, and this unity remains the nation’s real strength.

The Chief Minister strongly condemned the atrocities committed against the Kashmiri people and the Israeli bombardment of Palestine, saying that any state attacking innocent children and civilians will ultimately fail due to the unity of the Muslim world.

Talking about the ongoing flood situation, he said that several areas in Sindh are severely affected. The government’s top priority, he explained, is to save lives and protect barrages and embankments. He appealed to residents of katcha (riverine) areas to follow government instructions to avoid loss of life.

He further informed that under the directives of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, immediate relief operations have begun. An agricultural and environmental emergency has been imposed, while an international flash appeal will be launched to seek global assistance.

Responding to criticism over urban flooding in Karachi, Murad Ali Shah remarked that “seasonal frogs” appear after every spell of rain to spread propaganda, fueling political and ethnic divisions. He said the nation has already paid a heavy price for such divisions in the past.

The Chief Minister admitted that some shortcomings existed but assured that government officials and public representatives were present on the streets throughout the rains, performing their duties. He made it clear that the Pakistan People’s Party would support every project aimed at resolving public issues, provided it remains non-controversial, especially regarding water management.
