Following the signing of a historic defense agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, the Pakistan Ulema Council has announced that a Day of Gratitude and Prayers will be observed across the country tomorrow. Religious leaders stated that the pact represents not only a strengthening of bilateral ties but also a significant step toward Muslim unity and regional peace.
In his statement, Chairman of the Ulema Council, Hafiz Tahir Ashrafi, said it is by the grace of Allah Almighty that Pakistan has been blessed with the honor of defending the sanctity of the Holy Mosques. He further added that Pakistan’s leadership, the armed forces’ command, and the Saudi Crown Prince deserve appreciation for their roles in achieving this milestone.
It is important to recall that last night, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif formally signed the Pakistan-Saudi Strategic Mutual Defense Agreement (SMDA). The accord reflects the shared commitment of both nations to enhance security, strengthen defense, and contribute to peace in the region and beyond.
Under the terms of the agreement, both countries will bolster military preparedness and integration of defense capabilities. The pact ensures that any external armed aggression against one country will be considered an attack on both, thereby reinforcing mutual security.
The agreement marks a new chapter in Pakistan-Saudi strategic relations and is expected to serve as a milestone in promoting stability and peace across the region.
