Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed confidence that Pakistan will soon overcome all its challenges, though addressing the burden of circular debt in the energy sector remains a significant hurdle.
Speaking at a ceremony, the Prime Minister said that circular debt had severely affected the country’s energy sector. He explained that the debt was not only continuously increasing but also consuming vital national resources. Negotiations with Independent Power Producers (IPPs) and resolving this issue was a tough challenge, but the task force led by the Energy Minister performed commendably.
Shehbaz Sharif credited the government for tackling the circular debt issue and praised the efforts of the Field Marshal in this regard.
Highlighting his recent meeting with IMF officials, he noted that the IMF Managing Director appreciated Pakistan’s economic improvements and praised the reforms being implemented.
The Prime Minister stressed that with hard work and determination, success is guaranteed. He added that the next step involves privatization of companies and addressing financial losses, reaffirming that Pakistan will soon emerge from all difficulties and move firmly toward economic recovery.
