At least 54 people were injured after an explosion occurred inside a mosque in Indonesia’s capital, Jakarta, during Friday prayers. The blast caused panic among worshippers, as the mosque was crowded at the time of the incident.
According to international sources, the explosion took place in the mosque of an educational institution while Friday prayers were in progress. Several teachers and students were among the injured and were immediately shifted to nearby hospitals for medical treatment.
Authorities reported that police and rescue teams quickly cordoned off the area and launched a full investigation. Emergency responders were seen collecting evidence and securing the site.
Initial findings revealed that a firearm and bullets were recovered from the scene, raising suspicion that the incident may have been an act of terrorism. Officials stated that the nature of the explosion and its possible motives are being closely examined.
