The dengue situation in Sindh continues to deteriorate, with four additional deaths reported in the past 24 hours. This latest rise brings the total number of dengue-related fatalities in the province to 25 so far this year, raising serious concerns among health authorities and the public.
According to the Sindh Health Department, 1,192 new cases were confirmed during the last 24 hours, including 642 patients in Karachi and 550 in Hyderabad. With these new figures, the total number of dengue cases reported in Sindh this year has climbed to 10,502, reflecting the alarming spread of the virus.
The report states that 227 dengue patients are currently under treatment in government hospitals, while 212 are being treated in private hospitals. In response to the rising burden, 257 beds have been reserved in government hospitals across Karachi and 195 beds in private hospitals.
Health authorities added that 37 laboratories in Karachi are conducting dengue tests—12 government and 25 private—while 18 laboratories are functional in Hyderabad, consisting of 7 government and 11 private facilities.
During the past 24 hours, the fatalities included three children and one woman. According to the report, the deceased included a 3-year-old girl in Hyderabad, a 6-year-old boy in Badin, and in Karachi, an 11-year-old boy along with a 30-year-old woman, all of whom succumbed to dengue complications.
