In Rawalpindi, today marks the designated meeting day at Adiala Jail for the founder of PTI, where Imran Khan is expected to meet his family members, legal team, and senior party leadership. In view of the situation, the district administration has enforced Section 144 for three days, prohibiting all political and religious gatherings across the city.
Security around the jail has been significantly tightened, while private educational institutions in several parts of the city have also been closed as a precaution. Since early morning, a heavy deployment of law enforcement personnel has been visible on Adiala Road, unlike routine days.
PTI has submitted a list of six lawyers to the jail authorities, including party chairman Barrister Gohar Khan, Salman Akram Raja, Barrister Salman Safdar, Ali Zaman, Sardar Nabi, and Talat Mahmood. According to sources, all individuals mentioned in the list will be allowed to meet Imran Khan one by one. His sisters also arrived at the jail today, while the arrival of KP Chief Minister Sohael Afridi is also expected. The party has directed its elected members of the assembly to reach the jail as well.
The administration has established five additional checkpoints at the entry and exit points of Adiala Road. Enhanced police presence remained active at various security points, including Dehgal Naka, Gate One, Gate Five, Factory Naka, and Gorakhpur, where women personnel have also been deployed.
A total of twelve SHOs have been assigned supervision duties, while more than seven hundred personnel have been stationed to maintain law and order. Anti-riot kits have been provided to the security units, and additional force has been kept on standby to respond immediately to any emergency. All vehicles approaching the jail are being thoroughly checked before being allowed to proceed.
Officials say that law enforcement agencies are coordinating under a joint strategy to maintain peace, and strict legal action will be taken in case of any violation of Section 144.
