Aleema Khan, sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan, has declared the viral image of Imran Khan circulating on social media to be genuine, stating that although the image is old, it appears authentic and should be verified independently by the media.
Speaking to the media after her appearance at the Anti-Terrorism Court in Rawalpindi, Aleema Khan said that judges who are unable to dispense justice in accordance with the Constitution and the law should step down from their positions. She stated that those seeking the release of the PTI founder are part of his struggle, while claims about factions such as the Aleema Khan group or the Bushra Bibi group are propaganda spread by agencies. She also expressed surprise at certain statements attributed to Sher Afzal Marwat being taken seriously.
Aleema Khan said that Imran Khan is being kept in solitary confinement, which constitutes torture under international law, as keeping an individual isolated for more than five days is considered inhumane treatment. She added that meeting Imran Khan at Adiala Jail is her constitutional, legal, and moral right, but authorities continue to create obstacles. At times meetings are denied altogether, and at other times mistreatment occurs, yet she asserted that they will not retreat from their cause.
Responding to allegations of contacts with intelligence agencies, Aleema Khan questioned which agency was being referred to, whether Military Intelligence or Inter-Services Intelligence, stating that these are Pakistan’s own institutions and she is prepared to bear any allegations made in this regard. Referring to court testimonies, she said those testifying falsely are merely subordinates, while responsibility lies with those who compel them to give such statements.
According to Aleema Khan, Imran Khan founded Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf for justice, constitutional supremacy, rule of law, and democracy, and he has remained imprisoned for the past two and a half years in pursuit of these principles. She added that Imran Khan never abandons two things, his faith in God and physical exercise, which he continues even while in custody.
She made it clear that the PTI founder will not enter into any deal or compromise on constitutional supremacy, the Twenty-Sixth and Twenty-Seventh Amendments, or the demand for transparent elections, adding that ethical standards within the judicial system are visibly deteriorating.
