The District and Sessions Courts in Islamabad heard cases related to the May 9 incidents and other matters involving Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founding chairman Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi, during which the court extended their interim bail.
According to the court’s order, the directive restraining the arrest of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi will remain in force, while their interim bail has been extended until January 27. The court stated that the next hearing in these cases will take place on the same date.
The proceedings were conducted by Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka. Due to the absence of Imran Khan during the hearing, detailed legal arguments on the bail petitions could not be presented. In view of this, the court decided to extend the interim bail and adjourn the hearings to allow comprehensive arguments at the next hearing.
In its order, the court clearly directed that Imran Khan must appear either in person or via video link at the next hearing.
During the proceedings, Advocate Shamsa Kiani appeared on behalf of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi and informed the court that detailed legal arguments would be presented on the next date of hearing.
It is pertinent to note that multiple cases related to the events of May 9 have been registered against Imran Khan, including charges of attempted murder, submission of fake receipts, and other serious allegations. These cases have resulted in significant legal challenges for the PTI founder, with hearings ongoing in different courts.
Meanwhile, Bushra Bibi is also facing legal proceedings in a separate case involving allegations of submitting fake receipts, which remains under judicial consideration.
