Islamabad: Aleema Khan, sister of former prime minister Imran Khan, while speaking to the media outside the Anti-Terrorism Court, said that the cases filed against her are merely intended to exert pressure and that she is not afraid of false and fabricated charges.
Aleema Khan said that if the judiciary were truly independent, the PTI founder would not be in jail today. She added that she would reach outside Adiala Jail at 1 pm tomorrow, where a recitation of Surah Yaseen would also be held in connection with martyrs and unlawful arrests.
Criticizing the government, she said that the 26th constitutional amendment deprived the people of their right to vote, while handpicked judges were appointed to hand down sentences. She maintained that the allegations against her are only meant to prevent the PTI founder’s message from reaching the public.
Aleema Khan said that if permission for a meeting is not granted, she will sit on the road outside the jail and wait. She added that those involved in stealing votes should be tried under Article 6 of the Constitution and described the Punjab government as a fearful administration that seized power by stealing the public mandate.
She urged the public and the media to continue their peaceful struggle, stating that, according to the PTI founder, struggle is an act of worship and that striving for judicial independence is essential.
