Islamabad: The District and Sessions Courts have restrained PTI founder Imran Khan from immediate arrest in five cases, including attempted murder.
The court issued the order while hearing other cases, including the alleged attempt to murder of former federal minister Mohsin Shahnawaz Ranjha. Following the decision, the PTI founder and his wife Bushra Bibi have been granted temporary legal protection until February 18.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majuka extended the pre-arrest bail and upheld the order to prevent arrest until a later date. During the hearing, the PTI founder could not be presented in court through a video link, due to which detailed arguments could not be made.
The court has directed them to appear in person or via video link at the next hearing.
Lawyer Salman Safdar also failed to appear during the court proceedings, while assistant lawyers Khalid Yousuf Chaudhry and Shamsa Kayani presented their positions. Several cases have been registered against the PTI founder, including the May 9 incidents, attempted murder and alleged fake receipts, while Bushra Bibi has also been accused of submitting fake receipts.
