Islamabad: The Benazir Income Support Programme has approved an increase of Rs1,000 in the quarterly stipend for deserving women ahead of the holy month of Ramadan, a move that is expected to provide direct financial relief to millions of beneficiaries across the country.
Following the increase, the amount allocated to eligible women has been raised from Rs13,500 to Rs14,500, with the primary objective of supporting low-income households during a period of rising inflation and ensuring assistance in meeting their essential needs.
In addition, the stipends provided under the Benazir Educational Scholarships and the Benazir Nashonuma Programme have also been increased by Rs500, which will help families manage educational expenses and improve access to healthcare facilities related to maternal and child well-being.
Meanwhile, a live e-katcheri was held at the Benazir Income Support Programme Headquarters under the chairpersonship of Rubina Khalid, where the concerns of beneficiary women were heard and immediate directives were issued to relevant officials to ensure prompt resolution of complaints.
Chairperson Rubina Khalid stated that women who have not yet obtained their free SIM for the digital wallet system should immediately approach their nearest BISP offices so that the payment process can be made more transparent, organized, and convenient.
