An air ambulance crashed in the Chatra district of Jharkhand state in India, with seven people on board. The aircraft was traveling from Ranchi to New Delhi and was transporting a patient for medical treatment. Rescue operations have been intensified following the tragic incident.
According to Indian media reports, the crash occurred on Monday night near the Simaria area of Chatra district. The air ambulance was carrying a patient from Ranchi to New Delhi when it reportedly lost contact during the flight before crashing.
The Deputy Commissioner of Chatra stated that since the aircraft fell in a dense forest area, immediate confirmation of fatalities could not be made. However, preliminary information suggests that the chances of survival for those onboard are minimal.
Officials said the aircraft last contacted Kolkata Air Traffic Control at 7:34 pm, after which communication was lost shortly thereafter. Reports of the crash were received soon after the contact was severed.
Rescue teams have reached the crash site and relief operations are underway. Authorities have also initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
