Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar, has stated that there is no military solution to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war and that all parties must act responsibly while keeping regional and global security considerations in mind.
Addressing the Security Council meeting marking four years of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, he emphasized that Pakistan has consistently advocated dialogue and diplomatic efforts as the only viable path toward resolving the dispute. He noted that the use of force cannot bring a lasting solution.
Asim Iftikhar said that durable peace in the region can only be achieved through meaningful and serious negotiations. He recalled that Pakistan had supported the talks held in Istanbul in 2022, viewing them as a positive step toward resolving the conflict.
The Pakistani envoy expressed hope that the concerned parties would prioritize diplomacy and work toward a peaceful and mutually acceptable resolution, ensuring stability and peace in the region.
Meanwhile, in a show of solidarity with the people of Ukraine, the Eiffel Tower in Paris was illuminated in the colors of the Ukrainian national flag, symbolizing international support.
