The Sindh government has decided to restrict the number of people arriving at the airport for picking up and dropping off passengers, imposing a ban on more than two individuals accompanying a traveler. The measure aims to strengthen security arrangements and reduce unnecessary crowding.
An important meeting regarding security threats was held under the chairmanship of the Provincial Home Minister, during which the Home Secretary, Inspector General of Sindh, and other relevant officials provided a detailed briefing on the current security situation. The meeting reviewed past incidents and potential risks.
During the session, the Home Minister stated that strict and immediate measures are essential in light of previous incidents. He directed authorities to formulate a comprehensive response mechanism for emergencies and to enhance security at the airport at all levels. He emphasized that due to unusual crowding, security concerns may increase, and therefore only one or two individuals will be allowed at the pick and drop point.
Home Minister Zia Lanjar also instructed the police to strengthen coordination with other law enforcement agencies. He directed that modern search equipment be made available in all prisons across the province and that female staff be deployed at entry and exit points for the search of women.
He further ordered a comprehensive security review of all important and sensitive installations, strict action against public display of weapons without discrimination, and full implementation of all provisions of the National Action Plan in its true spirit.
