According to details, a steady increase in HIV cases has been observed across the province, which experts have described as an alarming trend requiring urgent attention to prevent further spread.
Data released by the health department shows that the total number of cases has reached 894 this year, with the most concerning aspect being the rise in infections among children, where 329 cases have been reported so far, including 188 boys and 141 girls.
Health experts attribute the spread of the disease to unsafe medical practices, reuse of syringes, and negligence by unqualified practitioners, which are contributing significantly to the worsening situation.
Medical professionals have also warned that the effects of the 2019 Ratodero scandal are still being felt, while cases among adults are also increasing, making it essential to take emergency measures to control the virus.
Experts stress that strict adherence to sterilization protocols in healthcare facilities is necessary to contain the spread, and without proper enforcement, controlling the virus will remain difficult.
Officials from the Sindh Health Department stated that screening and awareness campaigns are ongoing across the province, urging citizens not to fear HIV but to focus on timely diagnosis and treatment, as modern medical care allows affected individuals to live normal lives.
