A new case of monkeypox has been reported in Karachi, where the wife of an already affected individual has also tested positive for the virus, prompting health authorities to closely monitor the situation.
According to the health department, a 42-year-old resident of Malir has recovered and returned home, but his 41-year-old wife developed symptoms and has now been admitted to the hospital for treatment.
Hospital sources said that the affected woman is being provided with all necessary medical care and is under close observation, while it is reassuring that no symptoms have been detected in the children of the family so far.
With this case, the total number of monkeypox infections reported in Karachi this year has reached four, leading the health department to intensify preventive measures across the province and issue alerts to relevant authorities.
