According to official data released in Islamabad, Pakistan’s trade deficit increased by 20.28 percent during the first 10 months of the fiscal year 2025-26, from July to April, reaching 31.98 billion dollars, reflecting a significant rise compared to the same period last year.

The data shows that during the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year, the trade deficit stood at 24.59 billion dollars, indicating a notable increase this year and highlighting growing economic imbalances.

The report further stated that during the period under review, Pakistan’s exports declined by 6.25 percent, bringing total exports down to 25.21 billion dollars, while imports increased by 6.94 percent, reaching 57.198 billion dollars.

According to official figures, the widening economic imbalance is primarily due to the increase in imports and the decline in exports, which has further expanded the trade deficit and may pose a significant challenge for the country’s economy.
