The series of fatal accidents involving heavy traffic in Karachi continues, claiming the life of an innocent child in another tragic incident. A water tanker struck and killed a young boy in the Korangi area, triggering anger and grief among residents.
According to details, the accident occurred on Friday morning near the main market of Bengali Para in Korangi 100 Quarters, where 12-year-old Farhan, son of Noor Muhammad, died on the spot. Following the incident, a large number of residents gathered at the scene and surrounded the water tanker in protest.
Police arrived promptly after receiving information and took immediate action by detaining the tanker driver. The child’s body was shifted to Jinnah Hospital through an Edhi ambulance.
Media reports stated that Farhan was a student of a local madrasa and the youngest among eight siblings. Due to a holiday at the madrasa, he was playing with other children in a nearby ground. During the play, he decided to return a rented bicycle to a shopkeeper, but the simple errand tragically turned into his final journey.
Eyewitnesses said that as Farhan entered the main market area, a speeding motorcycle slightly hit his bicycle, causing him to lose balance and fall to the ground. At the same moment, the rear wheels of a water tanker coming from behind ran over him, resulting in his instant death.
Local residents said that uncontrolled entry of heavy traffic in Korangi and surrounding areas has made daily life extremely unsafe. They stressed that strict enforcement of traffic laws and restrictions on heavy vehicles in residential areas are essential to prevent such heartbreaking incidents in the future.
